Soraa Glass began as an Ode to the salty landscapes of Aotearoa and Korea.

Soraa Glass is the creation of Korean born, Tāmaki Makaurau based artist + designer Jark Pane. Jark's diverse background, encompassing classical music, graphic design, landscape architecture, and spatial design, deeply informs her studio practice. This unique confluence of disciplines finds its expression primarily through the captivating presence of glass, where movement and stillness are playfully yet thoughtfully explored. Her works embody a dedication to patience and meticulous craftsmanship, embodied in each object that is handmade and individually finished.

During her formative years, Jark honed her casting techniques while assisting Katherine Rutecki at Lukeke Design. A pivotal moment arrived in 2017 with a visit to Murano, the renowned center of glassmaking, where she attended a masterclass led by Maestro Davide Fuin. This immersion in Venetian glass techniques ignited a series of exquisite blown forms and vessels that explored the costal landscapes of Tāmaki.

While skilled in the process of lost wax casting, Jark's artistic curiosity has led her to push the boundaries of traditional glass. She has collaborated with fashion designers, jewellers, producers and makers in complimentary disciplines to create distinctive sensorial experiences that transcend conventional applications.
